Cloud computing has become an important part of how modern businesses build and operate their technology infrastructure. Instead of relying entirely on physical servers and traditional data centers, organizations can use cloud platforms to access computing, storage, software and other IT resources as needed.
In India, this shift continues to accelerate. Gartner forecasts that end-user spending on public cloud services in India will reach $17.5 billion in 2026, representing 28.1% growth from 2025. Gartner points to demand for AI-ready infrastructure, application modernization and scalable IT models as important drivers.
At the same time, cloud environments are becoming more complex. Flexera’s 2026 State of the Cloud Report found that 73% of surveyed organizations operate hybrid cloud environments, while cost and security remain two of their leading challenges.
The growing use of AI is adding another dimension. AI workloads can require significant computing power, specialized infrastructure and scalable data environments. As a result, organizations are increasingly considering cloud infrastructure not simply as an IT expense, but as a foundation for new digital capabilities.
However, moving more workloads to the cloud does not automatically create business value. Organizations need to consider security, governance, costs, performance and workload requirements when deciding where applications and data should operate.
This is also making cloud management more strategic. Hybrid and multicloud environments can provide flexibility, but they require clear visibility into resources, costs, access and security.
For businesses evaluating cloud solutions, the focus should therefore go beyond migration. The more important questions are how the infrastructure supports business objectives, whether costs can be controlled, how securely data is managed and whether the environment can adapt as technology requirements change.
Cloud is increasingly becoming part of the foundation on which businesses build their digital operations. The challenge is to make that foundation scalable, secure and aligned with business needs.
